North West materials handling specialist Powerlift has opened a new depot in Skelmersdale, giving the family-run business more capacity to support customers across the region.

Everything under one roof

The new site brings the company's departments together in a single location, with a larger parts operation, more racking and storage, and additional engineers out on the road.

The aim is faster response times for customers who need forklifts, warehouse equipment, servicing, parts and operator training.

A milestone close to home

Managing director Steve Routledge described the move as an important milestone, noting that the location sits close to where the founders' careers in the industry first began.

Operations director Emma Routledge said there is always value in reviewing what is available and discussing ways to improve efficiency, whether a customer runs a single truck or a full fleet. The company plans an open day to showcase the site.

What this means for commercial teams

  • Depot expansions are a leading indicator of commercial hiring in regional materials handling.
  • Growth in parts, service and training teams often comes with new sales and account management roles to match.
